Oshkosh Towing & Roadside handles motorcycle towing for cruisers, touring bikes, sport bikes, dual-sports and trikes that broke down, ran dry or went down on the road. Every bike rides on our flatbed tow truck, held upright by a motorcycle wheel chock at the front tire and soft straps looped to the frame, crash bars or shock mounts. We never hook the handlebars or chain the bike, so nothing bends and the paint stays clean.

Oshkosh Towing & Roadside provides motorcycle tow truck service to Oshkosh and surrounding Wisconsin cities, including Neenah, Menasha, Omro, Fond du Lac and Ripon. Dispatch asks for the make, model and whether the bike rolls, then quotes the price before we head out. For motorcycle towing, Oshkosh dispatch answers day and night.

Types of Motorcycle Towing We Handle in Oshkosh

  • Cruiser and Touring Bike Towing

Big cruisers and touring bikes carry saddlebags, fairings and a lot of weight up high. A proper motorcycle tie-down runs soft loops to the crash bars or lower triple clamp and pulls forward and outward, compressing the front suspension slightly so the bike can't bounce loose. We roll heavy bikes up the deck with two people, never by riding them aboard, and keep the side stand up.

  • Sport Bike Towing

Sport bikes have plastic fairings, clip-on bars and few solid tie points. Handlebars and mirrors are not built for tow forces, so the straps go to the footrest brackets, shock mounts or frame rails instead. We pad any strap that crosses bodywork. A sport bike that went down usually has a bent lever or peg, so we check that the front wheel still turns before chocking it.

  • Trike and Three-Wheeler Towing

A trike or three-wheeler can't sit in a single wheel chock, so we load and strap it more like a small car, with wheel straps over the rear tires and soft loops at the front. Carrier decks come 96 in or 102 in wide, which fits the rear axle of most trikes. Tell dispatch the model so we confirm the width before we roll.

  • Dirt Bike and Dual-Sport Recovery

Dual-sports and dirt bikes break down where trucks can't follow: trail heads, sand roads, farm lanes. When we can reach within a winch line's length, a soft strap at the frame lets us pull the bike back to firm ground without damage. Deeper in the woods, our off-road winch out service covers the planning. Light dirt bikes ride in the same wheel chock as street bikes.

  • Motorcycle Accident Towing

After a crash, the bike often has a bent fork, a cracked tank or a folded footpeg. We don't stand a leaking bike upright until fuel stops dripping, and we photograph it as it lies for your insurer. A damaged front wheel can still be chocked if it turns. If a car was involved too, our accident towing page explains storage and claims.

  • Breakdowns and Empty Tanks on Two Wheels

Not every stranded bike needs the deck. Small tanks run dry on long rides, and fuel delivery gets you to the next pump. A weak motorcycle battery can often take a jump start from a small booster. AAA logged about 7 million battery calls in 2024 across all vehicles. For these quick fixes, see our roadside assistance page.

  • Long Distance Motorcycle Towing

Touring riders break down far from home, and a bike may need to reach its own dealer or a specialist shop. Beyond the roughly 20-mile radius we cover day to day, a long-distance tow is available on request. Dispatch prices the full run before departure, so you can weigh towing home against a nearby shop.

How Much Does Motorcycle Towing Cost in Oshkosh?

The best guide is the price of a local tow: Allstate puts tows of 5 miles or less at $35 to $125, and up to 40 miles at $125 to $275. Because every bike rides on a flatbed, the per-mile rate follows flatbed pricing.

How We Strap a Motorcycle to the Flatbed

A bike on a deck has to stay upright through braking, bumps and turns. The chock plus soft front loops is the most secure common setup, and this is the order we follow:

  1. Roll the bike up the deck and seat the front tire in the motorcycle wheel chock.
  2. Loop soft tie downs around the lower triple clamp or crash bars and pull forward and outward.
  3. Compress the front suspension slightly, enough to keep tension without bottoming the forks.
  4. Strap the rear through the frame or passenger peg brackets to stop side-to-side movement.
  5. Check that no strap touches the grips, mirrors, brake lines or exhaust.

Deer Season Riding Around Winnebago County

Fall is the riskiest time to ride here. Deer hit cars and bikes 532 times in Winnebago County in 2024 and 683 times next door in Fond du Lac County, and more than a third of Wisconsin's deer crashes come in October and November.

For riders the outcome is worse. Wisconsin recorded 221 motorcycle deer crashes in 2024, with 7 deaths and 87 serious injuries, so 42% ended in death or serious injury. When it's time to move it, call dispatch and we load it as it is, bent levers and all.

Motorcycle Towing FAQ

Do you tow motorcycles on a flatbed or a trailer?

On a flatbed. The deck tilts to the ground for a low, steady loading angle, and the bike rides upright in a front wheel chock. Light-duty carrier decks run 19 to 22 ft long, so there is room to strap the bike from all four sides without crowding the bodywork.

Can you tow a motorcycle that won't roll?

Yes. A locked rear wheel or a flat tire changes how we load, not whether we can. We use the deck winch with a soft strap at a frame point and guide the bike up by hand. Carrier winches are rated 8,000 or 10,000 lb, so the pull is slow and controlled.

Will straps scratch or bend my bike?

Not with soft straps. Soft loops spread tension and protect the paint, and they anchor to solid points like crash bars, shock mounts or footrest brackets. Handlebars and mirrors aren't built for tow forces, so we never strap to them. Any strap that crosses bodywork gets padding first.

Can you tow a trike or a bike with a sidecar?

Yes. A trike or sidecar rig is strapped more like a small car, with wheel straps and soft loops instead of a single front chock. Carrier decks are 96 in or 102 in wide, which covers most rigs. Give dispatch the model and width so we confirm the fit on the call.

What should I do if I hit a deer on my motorcycle?

Get off the road and check yourself before the bike. Call 911 if you're hurt, since 42% of Wisconsin motorcycle deer crashes in 2024 ended in death or serious injury. Leave the bike where it fell if it's leaking fuel, photograph it, then call dispatch to arrange the tow.

Can you take my bike to a dealer outside the Oshkosh area?

Yes, long-distance motorcycle towing is available on request. Our local area covers about 20 miles around Oshkosh, and longer runs are priced by the mile. Allstate puts tows of up to 100 miles at $600 or more nationally, so ask dispatch for the exact quote before you decide.
