Towing in Fox Crossing, WI from Oshkosh Towing & Roadside covers light-duty and medium-duty towing on flatbed and wheel-lift trucks, plus winch-outs, jump starts, lockouts, fuel delivery, flat tire changes, motorcycle towing and accident towing after a highway crash. Cars, SUVs, pickups and vans ride on the deck, and a car with no usable spare tire gets towed to the tire shop instead of waiting on the shoulder. Our tow operators are licensed and insured and work every night of the year.

Fox Crossing became a village on April 20, 2016, out of the former Town of Menasha, and covers 13.9 sq mi of Winnebago County on both sides of Little Lake Butte des Morts. It lies about 17 miles north of Oshkosh on I-41, the road that ties the village to Oshkosh. We also tow in Omro.

The Busiest Highway Count in Winnebago County

I-41 between County II and US 10 carried 98,800 vehicles a day in 2026, more than any other count point in the county, and it runs straight through Fox Crossing. That volume means a flat or an overheated engine turns into a lane-blocking problem within minutes, especially at the US 10 interchange.

Waiting on that shoulder is dangerous for drivers and for us. AAA research found 123 roadside assistance providers, tow operators among them, were struck and killed from 2015 to 2021, 89% of them on roads posted 55 mph or more and 63% in darkness. We park the truck upstream with amber lights running and ask you to stay inside with your belt on. Passing traffic must follow the Move Over law.

US 10 and the Roland Kampo Memorial Bridge

The Roland Kampo Memorial Bridge opened on Nov. 30, 1975, as the first piece of the Tri-County Expressway, about 1.3 miles from US 41 to County P across the lake. In 2025 US 10 and WIS 441 carried 64,700 vehicles a day over it, and US 10 between County CB and US 41 had 36,500 in 2026. With water on both sides there is little room to work, so we load disabled cars on the flatbed and move them to the nearest exit.

Village Routes We Run Every Week

  • WIS 114 (Plank Rd): commuter breakdowns and no-starts in the morning.
  • WIS 47 (Appleton Rd): fender-benders near the shops and gas stations.
  • County AP (Midway Rd) and County BB (Prospect Ave): flat tires and lockouts.
  • County CB (West Side Arterial): slide-offs on the open stretches in snow.
  • County II (Winchester Rd) and County P (Racine Rd, Valley Rd): ditch pulls and dead batteries.

How Does Fox Crossing's Overnight Parking Ban Work?

From Nov. 1 through April 1, Municipal Code 4.04 bans parking on any village road or right-of-way between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. Police can grant overnight permission for up to 10 dates a month, but they will not grant it when heavy snowfall, plowing or salting is expected.

The reason is the plow route. The village plows and maintains more than 100 miles of roads from November through April, and a car left on the street blocks the blade and can be ticketed or removed. Check your request with the police before a storm, not after. The ban runs for five months, so households with more cars than driveway space should line up an off-street spot or a friend's driveway before November.

Apartment and business lots in Fox Crossing are private property, and Trans 319 governs those tows: $150 at most per tow, $25 a day for outdoor storage ($35 indoors) and no administrative or gate fees. Before removing a car from a posted lot, the tow company has to notify police on the non-emergency line, or it cannot collect a fee. If your car ends up in an impound lot, we can collect it once it is released.

Lake Wind, Airport Lots and Winter Starts

Fox Crossing sits at the north end of Lake Winnebago, between the Appleton station (49.4 in of snow a year) and Oshkosh (39.2 in). January lows average about 10F, and there are roughly 18 nights a year at or below 0F. On windy March days, ice shoves on Lake Winnebago can pile up to 25 ft high, a reminder that the ice moves even late in the season. Even the milder winter 2023-24 produced more than 11,000 winter-weather crashes in Wisconsin between October and May. Nationally, FHWA counts about 219,942 crashes a year in snow, sleet, hail or freezing rain.

Appleton International Airport sits next to the village in Greenville. A car parked in the airport lot for a week of January cold often greets its owner with a dead battery, and our roadside assistance crews handle those jump starts at any hour. School lots at St. Mary Catholic High School and Middle School see the same thing after long winter breaks.

Deer cross the village's open edges at dawn and dusk. Winnebago County deer crashes reached 532 in 2024, and we tow most of those cars on a flatbed because a cracked radiator or a dangling headlight makes the drive home a bad idea.

Towing and Roadside Services We Offer in Fox Crossing

  • Light-Duty Highway Towing

Cars, SUVs, minivans and pickups up to 10,000 lb GVWR are light-duty, and that covers nearly every call on I-41 through Fox Crossing. We pick the flatbed or the wheel lift based on the drivetrain and the damage, and dispatch tells you which truck is coming and the price.

  • Long-Distance Tows

Some Fox Crossing drivers want the car taken to a dealer in another city. We handle long-distance tow requests on the flatbed, and the rate depends on miles. HomeGuide (2026) lists $2 to $4 per mile beyond the hook-up for longer tows, and our dispatcher prices the full trip upfront.

  • Flat Tire Changes

About 28% of 2017 model year vehicles came without a spare tire, so a flat on County CB can end in a tow. If you have a usable spare, we mount it on the roadside. If not, we carry the car to a tire shop in Fox Crossing or anywhere you choose.

  • Jump Starts

Cold mornings on Plank Rd and long airport stays both kill batteries. A battery loses about 60% of its strength at 0F, while a cold engine can need twice the usual current to turn over. We jump the car in the driveway or lot, then check the charge before we go.

  • Lockouts

Locked out at a gas station on Appleton Rd or in a Midway Rd parking lot? Our operators open the door with an air wedge and a long-reach rod, a method that protects the frame and window. Keyless cars still lock their fobs inside, so lockouts remain a regular call.

  • Ditch Pulls

A slide-off on Winchester Rd or the West Side Arterial usually means two wheels in snow and two on the shoulder. A ditch pull with a rated winch line and a snatch block brings the car back up at a safe angle, and most cars drive away afterward.

Towing in Fox Crossing FAQ

How do I get overnight parking permission in Fox Crossing?

Ask the Fox Crossing Police Department. Officers can allow overnight street parking for up to 10 dates a month during the Nov. 1 to April 1 ban. Requests are turned down when heavy snow, plowing or salting is forecast, so a driveway or off-street spot is the safer plan on storm nights.

Can you jump start a car at Appleton International Airport?

Yes. The airport sits next to Fox Crossing in Greenville, inside our usual area. Tell dispatch which lot and row the car is in. If the battery will not hold a charge after a jump, we can tow the car to a shop or home, and you get the price before we leave.

What does it cost to tow a car from Fox Crossing to Oshkosh?

The trip is about 17 miles on I-41. HomeGuide (2026) lists a hook-up fee around $75 plus $2 to $4 per mile, and Angi (2026) puts flatbed service at $2.50 to $3.50 per mile. Those are national ranges, and our dispatch confirms your exact price on the phone.

Do you cover both sides of Little Lake Butte des Morts?

Yes. The lake splits Fox Crossing, with Neenah schools on the west side and Menasha schools on the east, and we serve both. The US 10 bridge connects them, carrying 64,700 vehicles a day in 2025, so crossing from one side to the other is quick for our trucks.

My address still says Town of Menasha. Do you serve it?

Yes. The Town of Menasha became the Village of Fox Crossing in 2016, with the first part incorporated on April 20 and the rest joining on Sept. 22. Older maps and some count sites still use the town name. Give dispatch your street and cross road and we will find you.
